Elena Sheldrake,
|
Elena Sheldrake graduated with an MSc in rehabilitation sciences and BSc (Hons.) double major biological and medical sciences from Western University in 2019 and 2013, respectively. Her master's thesis centred around investigating and understanding how identity is negotiated for older adults after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Elena is now completing her PhD at the University of Toronto in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute, with a Collaborative Specialization in Neuroscience. She is under the co-supervision of Drs. Shannon Scratch and Nick Reed, in the NOvEL and OAK labs, focused on the Persistent Concussion, Anxiety, Neuropsychology, and Neuroimaging (PeCANN) study at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Her research aims to investigate the similarities and differences in neuropsychological and neuroimaging outcomes between youth with persistent post-concussive syndrome and youth with anxiety, in order to better understand and develop long-term outcomes in youth experiencing these conditions.

Zane Grossinger,
|
Zane Grossinger graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Specialization in Kinesiology from Queen’s University in 2021. Zane is currently a Master’s student in the Rehabilitation Science Institute at the University of Toronto and will be completing his research within the OAK Concussion Lab.
During his undergraduate degree, Zane developed a strong interest for concussion rehabilitation and created a peer concussion mentorship program that provided social support for students recovering from concussions. Zane’s research will explore the perspectives of adolescents with concussion to identify what constitutes meaningful social support for concussion recovery and how social support may be understood differently by various populations. |
